Applying online is increasingly encouraged by companies as it allows them to streamline their hiring process electronically. Upon completing the wizard, JobTabs will open up the cover letter editor as it normally would. JobTabs further facilitates your application by allowing you to use the resumes you have already added to JobTabs and your standard resume name. Allow us to illustrate. Most 'Apply Online' facilities will have a button prompting you to upload your resume. While you can always click the 'Browse...' button (or 'File...' as the case may be) on the web page to select files on your hard drive, JobTabs allows you to double-click the text area to bring up the JobTabs Resume Select dialog.

A key point to keep in mind at this juncture is that HTML security prevents JobTabs from entering the name of your resume into the Browse box automatically. JobTabs rectifies this problem by copying your standard resume name into the clipboard as well as saving your resume to the root of your C: drive. All you have to do is paste it. While HTML security prevents you from using the CTRL+V combination to paste the resume name into the Browse box, you can still use the context menu to paste it. Right click the Browse box, and select 'Paste' from the menu to add your standard resume name to the box automatically.

JobTabs will actually place instructions in the web page on exactly what you need to do. In this case the web page will become slightly distorted. JobTabs also adds a hyperlink to your resume so that you can verify the correct resume is in place. You should always verify the correct resume is place before uploading it. Click the hyperlink to open the resume to verify it is the resume you want to send. An added benefit of having a standard resume name is,

A notable exception here is if the document type changes. If you have a resume listed with a pdf extension and then you decide to upload a resume with a doc extension then you will have to paste again as the resume name will have changed from yourname.pdf to yourname.doc. Fortunately, JobTabs reminds you of this in bold type with a message,
Paste the contents of the clipboard into the file box as the file name has changed.

In closing, JobTabs has gone to great lengths in supplying methods that you can use to easily pursue jobs. You can alleviate much of the manual logging, note taking and repetitive steps in your pursuit of an engaging career. Let's move on to selecting your cover letter.
