General Configuration

Standard Resume Name

Being able to present yourself to a recruiter or employer as a singularly, focused professional is valuable.  One way you can do this via email is by having a resume with a name that suggests you have one and only one professional objective - regardless of how many resumes you actually have in JobTabs.  As simple as it sounds, consider that recruiters and employers are bombarded with resume attachments with names like "rjones_proj_man_chem.doc", "sue_ward_trng_mgr_supvsr.doc", or "dsperling_water_rep.doc".  While there could be a motive other than differentiating their resume from all of their other resumes, it is unlikely to dissuade anyone from thinking so.  Receiving resumes alternatively entitled, "rjones.doc", "sue_ward.doc" or "dsperling.doc" is much more likely to give the impression that you have specific skills and are specifically looking for those positions to which you are ideally suited.

One of the many ways that JobTabs empowers you to cast a wider net, while making yourself ideally qualified for the job opening at hand, is the standard resume name.  The standard resume is really a standard prefix which will be applied to the resume you attach to your emails.  You should take every measure to keep it as generic as possible much like the examples above (rjones.doc, sue_ward.doc, dsperling.doc).  Once you define your standard resume name, each and every resume you send from JobTabs will have that name.  Even if you have 50 resumes with 50 different names in JobTabs, every resume received by any resume recipient will be entitled with your standard resume name.

You can generally disregard any concerns you may have related to overwriting another resume on the recipients server.  Even the most primitive recruiter and HR software programs have taken into account multiple resumes having the same name.  Even if there are 10 msmith.doc resumes, they will be able to find you.

It is important to remember that you should not apply a document extension to the Standard Resume Name.  Whether you attach a MS Word document(.doc), a WordPad document (.rtf), HTML, text or any document type for that matter; JobTabs will detect the document type and apply the appropriate extension.  If your name is David Corrigan, then your resume prefix will be dcorrigan (without the period).  JobTabs applies the document extension, which includes the period, automatically.

Base Font

The base font applies to all description fields throughout JobTabs.  Once you set the font, it will be the default font used for activities, resume descriptions, resource descriptions, email, etc.

Cover Letter Date Format

The cover letter date format defines the default date format which will be used when the cover letter is created from the apply wizard on the Jobs tab.  The date format is derived from system defaults, predefined defaults, and your own customization options.  See the Cover Letter Date Format facility via the link below.
